To ensure victory of majority of seats in Western province at the August 9th election, the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition will now focus on zoning MCA candidates across the county.

In Kakamega, Azimio is working together with the Democratic Action Party of Kenya which also views Azimio as the single entity with enough support to capture power at the August 9th election.

According to Oparanya, the Azimio MCA candidates in the constituencies will be determined through opinion polls which will be conducted next month to determine the most popular candidate to carry the Coalition’s flag. Oparanya said that through this process, victory will be guaranteed for Azimio.

Speaking at his Likuyani home where he met a group of opinion leaders, Oparanya said:”As Azimio, we have many aspirants and we have decided to unite if we want to win many seats,”. The meeting was also attended by Ayub Savula, DAP-K and Likuyani ODM parliamentary candidate Innocent Mugabe.

Last week, Savula and Fernandez baraza, ODM’s gubernatorial candidate, agreed that the Lugari MP will represent Barasa to prevent Azimio from losing seats within it’s reach in the region due to sibling rivalries. If they take over government, the duo promised to share positions in Kakamega equally.

At the meeting, Elsie Muhanda an aspirant for the Kakamega Senate seat went home a happy Kenyan after the meeting requested nominated Senator, Naomi Shiyonga, to drop her ambitions of vying for the same seat on a DAP-K ticket and support Muhanda.

However, some candidates from DAP -K have threatened to support their Kenya Kwanza rivals if they are unfairly forced out of the race.

Three weeks ago, Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga told supporters in Central Kenya that the organization had agreed to allow all candidates to campaign for a month and then identify popular candidates to fly the coalition’s flag.
